Bitter
Glossary of Terms
Bitter is also known as pale ale, and is a type of beer. It is produced in a similar way to ale, using a warm fermentation process and predominantly pale malt. Traditionally in the 15th and 16th centuries bitter was produced from malt dried with coke for a lighter beer. Types of bitter include amber ale, blonde, English bitter and IPA (Indian pale ale).
