Bitters are produced with aromatic herbs, bark, roots and fruit using a process of infusion or distillation. Traditionally used for medicinal purposes, bitters are now most commonly used as a digestif or for flavourings in cocktails. Bitters usually have strength of about 45% ABV and popular brands include Angostrua Bitters, Fee Brothers Bitters and Peychaud's Bitters.
