Pourer

Glossary of Terms

A pourer is a spout with a cork which is inserted into the top of a bottle and used to dispense liquid. Pourers allow air to escape the bottle while pouring for a steady and controllable stream. Bottle pourers are primarily used in bartending to pour spirits and liqueurs into a spirit measure or glass. A liqueur pourer may also be used to layer shots and cocktails.
Bottle pourers are usually made from metal or plastic and come in a variety of speeds including free flow pourers, fast pourers and slow pourers. Other pourer styles include flip lid pourers and screened pourers for better hygiene and measured pourers for an exact single or double shot. Wine pourers may be used with a wine bottle to help oxide and control the flow of the wine.
